چکیده
A geological and speleological investigation was conducted in the famous Blue Cave (Modra špilja) Monk Seal (Medvidina on Biševo Island (Croatia) to promote island’s geoheritage through new Visitor Centre. The island is mainly composed of Cretaceous Paleogene neritic carbonates, which form bedrock, whereas parts are covered with thin Quaternary sediments. caves small dimensions a simple layout, main channel few shorter side channels, all positioned tidal zone. Thus, semi-submerged sea located along coastline. developed within bedrock limestones dolostones, respectively, zone left-lateral NNE–SSW striking strike-slip faults that belong fault system. Conjugated discontinuities carbonate indicate specific tectonic regime. Additionally, host rocks were probably also deformed fractured during rise salt diapirs characterise this part Adriatic foreland. Tectonic bedding fragments rock, combined impacts strong southern waves, significantly influenced genesis caves.

Impact of fish farming on foraminiferal community, Drvenik Veliki Island, Adriatic Sea, Croatia.
This study examined the impact of fish farming on foraminiferal communities in the Adriatic coastal zone. Samples were taken directly beneath the farm, near the edge of the farm, and at a reference station away from the farm. The foraminiferal community near the farm is characterized by Epistominella exigua, Globocassidulina subglobosa, Haynesina germanica and the genera Elphidium, Bulimina and...
متن کاملInfluence of suspended matter on cadmium accumulation in sediment from Kaštela Bay, Adriatic Sea, Croatia
Seasonal and spatial distributions of cadmium (Cd) and organic matter (OM) in sediment and suspended matter of the semi-enclosed Kaštela Bay (middle Adriatic Sea) were investigated at four stations during a one year period (April 2000 April 2001). Samples of surface sediment and suspended matter were collected monthly. One sediment core was sampled at every station at the beginning of the sampl...

cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...

2002). As a consequence, echinoid stocks had to be strictly managed in order to be protected (LESSER & WALKER, 1998; YOKOTA et al., 2002). Increasing demand for sea urchin roe has led, in the last decade, to over-fishing of natural populations (CONAND & SLOAN, 1989; LE GALL, 1990). Several possible solutions have been tested; reseeding natural habitats with farmed juveniles (AGATSUMA & MOMMA, 1...
